Our Church Relationship

Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina is a ministry of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in South Carolina.  We operate five sites as a non-profit South Carolina corporation governed by a non-compensated, volunteer Board of Trustees.  This 19-member board sets policy for the operation of Presbyterian Communities.  Three trustees are elected by each of the five presbyteries, three are elected at-large by the board, and one of the five Executive Presbyters in South Carolina serves on the board.  Trustees include ministers, members of congregations, business and legal professionals.

The Presbyterian (USA) church members and pastors in South Carolina play a vital role in the life of Presbyterian Communities.  The support they offer through gifts, programs, prayers and visits has strengthened this ministry throughout the years and continues to be a source of inspired and dedicated leadership.

Residents and staff members, including our chaplains, work with church leaders to provide an enhanced spiritual life in the following ways:

• Vespers and chapel services
• Bible studies
• Presbyterian Women circle meetings
• Lecture series featuring prominent speakers
• Pastor visitation
• Visits and programs by local Presbyterian church members
